Lost my pictures how do I get them back?

I had to a hard reset on my phone. I had backed up my phone but apparently every time I plugged in my phone it also backed it up after that. So I lost my content soon there after.

I synced my phone and everything before I did the process of restoring it. I have iCloud but I guess it never backed it up there.

Is there anyway I can some how retrive my 1200 pictures!?

It should be there
And iCloud has to have it
BUT if not you must download a forensics program just to get somewhat of your pictures back
I am certain the police and FBI uses programs like that to find files suspects have deleted from their iPhones.
