I'm wondering if anyone out there has had experiences or knowledge to confirm (or disprove) my current working theory.

I have an iPhone 6S+ running 9.2.1. My carrier in normally Tmobile USA, but I'm in the UK for the spring.

I'm on EE pay as you go and after about a week I noticed that I seem to be mysteriously losing data from my allotment. I downloaded My Data Manager to track my usage, and I turned off almost all uses of Cellular data (auto updates off, Background refresh off, etc. etc. etc.).

ALL of my testing is while at home on wifi, with the phone plugged in and the phone on but NOT IN USE.

My data manager shows data usage every few hours – often only 100K, but sometimes as much as 1MB. Over the course of a day I lose 2-3MB.

So I got a Three PAYG SIM, and I seem to see the same issues, though perhaps I am losing slightly less data.

So then I switched to my US Tmobile sim which has unlmited 2g data, which is working fine. When at home on Wifi, with the Tmobile SIM in the phone loses NO DATA AT ALL – not even a bit.

So as far as I can tell there is something about the EE SIM in particularly that is leading it to use 2-3MB of cellular data per day, even with the phone on wifi, and not being used.

Anyone have similar experience, or is there something I'm missing – that is, some rational reason why with no other settings changed and with me not even using the phone, it leaks data on both EE and Three?
