i bought a clamshell iBook off ebay and they didnt give me the password! anyone know how to do this?

You will want to format and reinstall if you bought it used. Insert the Mac OS X disk and restart holding C. From there, just follow the install instructions. Make sure you do an erase and install to erase his data.
If they left an Apple Firmware password on, you are out of luck and need to get them to give you the password.
