Lost Phone Question: Find My Phone Turned On?

Is there a way to tell if I was using Find My Phone? I think it may be Default On these days, but not sure.

I'm not 100% sure that I was signed in to iCloud, but I was using Photo Sharing with my family.

When I log in to Find My Phone on iCloud in a browser window, I do see the device listed. I did not have iCloud backup turned on however.

If you see the device listed when you log into iCloud then it was enabled.
And no it's not a default.
The user needs to turn it on themselves.
