Hi guys

Nightmare scenario...

iPhone 11 arrived today, eager to get it up and running.

Did a backup on my 8. Went over to my 11, restored said backup.

Everything looked fine, said daughter could have my 8, proceeded to erase it ready for her.

Only then did I randomly notice I didn't have as many photos as I usually would. Hmmm...ok, maybe they're still downloading.

An hour or so later...no more photos.

So I do some digging...i'm no techy i'm afraid...

Turns out I have iCloud photos turned on so my photos go straight to iCloud instead of forming part of the manual backup.

Now, our iCloud had been full for a while, it's a shared family one and the wife had maxed it out. I finally got round to upgrading it to the 2TB version on Sat.

To cut a long story short...

It would seem I have erased my phone while my photos were still in the process of being backed-up to iCloud.

I've got May-Sep 2019, 1851 in total, but everything prior to that, from the birth of my kids through to holidays and special occasions, are all gone.

My own fault I know but as I say, i'm no techy and I really didn't understand the process. I'm annoyed the device didn't warn me there was still an upload in progress but such is life - spoke to live chat and it's in their T&C's - shock.

Is there literally ANYTHING whatsoever that can be done?

As you can well imagine, i'm completely gutted, so many memories gone in the blink of an eye.

If you by chance have the Google Photos app, all of your photos may have automatically backed up there. I’m also surprised the phone didn’t warn you about an ongoing backup when you initiated the procedure to erase everything. One last bit - perhaps possible that an Apple store could restore the images?
