I bought a FW400/USB2.0 Buffalo 1TB external HDD 6 months ago because I needed to get footage I shot from a client. It took them over 5 months to get the hard drive back to me, it was like pulling teeth. Well, the genius's over there sent it back without the power adapter or any cables.
On the bottom side of the HDD it says "12VDC__2A DC12V".
The technical specifications read "AC100-240V 50/60Hz, Max 24W, Average 24W"
I have a ton of other random power adapters for various other things (routers, walki-talki charger, etc.)
What should I look for to make sure I don't blow me external HDD if I use another adapter.
Ideally I'd love to get the original back but who knows how long it'll take for them to send it to me. Also, I hear an unsettling rattling sound like a piece of loose plastic and the connection board seems to have moved within the unit, I fear damage. It would be good to check it even works.
