Lost QuickTime file

I recorded the audio of a meeting using the 'New Audio Recording' option in QuickTime (ver. 10.3). When the meeting was over, I closed my MacBook Pro and went home (I didn't stop the recording). When I got home, I opened the laptop, QuickTime was still open but the file was no longer open. I've tried to locate the file in the temporary location I've seen online, no luck. I've searched the laptop for audio files, no luck.

Any ideas where it might be?

Obviously I should have saved it before leaving, but I thought I could do that when I got home.
