I recently upgrade my mac and lost my recovery CD. (I wish I could blame it on my wife or the dog or the kids). Bought the machine from a friend.

I want to do a clean install...can I do that with a new version of Leopard when it comes out? If I every sell this machine with a Leopard CD, is that good enough for them to reinstall.

Thanks for your help.

Yes, you can use a retail Leopard DVD to do a clean install (note DVD, even Tiger only comes on DVD although you can send that to Apple to get CDs). Doing this will loose all non-OS components that came with the machine including iLife and any other bundled software.

Contact Apple, they might send you a new set of installation DVDs. They'll probably charge for shipping, but still...
