Ladies and Gentlemen, Good Day..
I'm brand new to this forum, and i have a very good reason for it: i lost my original translucent menu bar on Leopard (10.5.8). Yes, the one everyone bitches about so much..
I wasn't fond of it either, so i decided to explore the alternatives. While experimenting with my very few choices, i have managed to loose the original translucent menu bar. Don't ask me how.. Now that it's gone, whenever i check the "Translucent" box in System Preferences, it turns translucent but is not the same! It's like a lame piece of glass now, where before it had these soft edges and a gradient look with different levels of transparency (i can see how this could be hard to understand unless you have experienced this yourself. Go HERE to see pictures of two different bars. Although those two images might not be exact representations of my "before" and "after", they will let you see the difference for yourself. The first image [9A410] is what i have now. The second image [9A527] is what i used to have and it is what i want!). Anyhow, the point is: the menu bar is still translucent, it's just that now it looks way lamer!
I've looked into it and some suggest that the file "com.apple.WindowServer.plist" is the one responsible for this! If so, could anyone please send me this file? If not, please let me know of a way to get that bar back...
PS
Yes, I wanted to get rid of it in the first place, but it does work pretty sweet with SOME backgrounds. I'd like it back :)
Thanks in advance!
