So I have this annoying problem with my Macbook (late 2008, 13-inch, OS X 10.7.5, white). When I take it into certain parts of the house, it loses connection to the home wi-fi network. When it does this, it still appears to be connected, but it won't download any pages, and the home wi-fi network is the only one available from the drop-down menu, whereas normally there are more.
When this happens I try to turn the wi-fi off then on again, but it won't let me, because I can't turn it back on. Clicking 'Turn Wi-fi on' does literally nothing, whether I do so in the drop-down or in System Preferences. The only thing that fixes it is restarting. It doesn't always happen when I go in that room, but it seems to be happening more and more often.
Could it be it a hardware fault? I've dropped the Macbook once or twice from about knee-height. If so, which part would I replace? If it was software-related, would downgrading to Snow Leopard fix it?
