I know this makes me sound like a total imbecile, but I forgot what I saved my document as! Now I can't find it. I tried doing a spotlight search for words in the document, but the file I was looking for was nowhere to be found...
I didn't use Time Machine, either.
This is a very important document ("oh, then you should know what you named it", well, I had so many different versions of it saved that I can't recall which it is, and I've opened the other versions and none of them are what I need). I literally will want to die if I cannot find this; I've been working on it for months!

1. <Command+N> to open new Finder Window
2. Click Gear Thingy - top of newly opened window, near end of tool bar
3. Arrange By -> Date Added

Start searching in reverse order for all newly saved files.
Good luck!
