Lots of scanning problems with the Canon MG7520

I just bought the Canon MG7520 scanner (don't buy it, btw...) and it allows me to scan documents so the OCR is enabled. However, when i scan with image capture it doesn't seem to have that option (i know normally mac's don't do that but it seems because of the options on the Canon software are options on image capture since it enables those drivers.) are any other Canon scanner/printer owners have this problem?
