Loud clicking noise with 4870 normal (at startup)?

I bought a used apple 4870 (and have hit the forum with several questions). thanks for the answers.

It's working, but there is a loud tick tock clicking sound when the mac boots up, or wakes from sleep. It stops after 3 or 4 minutes. It's definitely coming from the card. Is this normal?

I can live with it, since I keep the machine running all the time. But just wondering what's up with this.
