Lousy sound quality when watching you tube

Over the last few weeks the sound quality when watching you tube on my mac has for some reason deteriorated.I have to have the volume up full on my speakers and theres a lot of distortion and static coming through.This only happens on you tube......not a problem in itunes or anywhere else so I know its not the speakers.
Anybody else encountered this??

I have encountered this briefly, but only a few times, the last being months ago. I wasn't too surprised though, flash player in cahoots with youtube/(google) in my mind doesn't end in optimality at all.

Never dived into trying to solve it, but you could try running youtube in HTML5-mode, which is currently in beta, as an alternative to Flash. Don't know if it'll help, but worth a shot. You can toggle it here: http://www.youtube.com/html5

Thanks for that..didnt really alter much though.sound was a bit better but videos wernt very smooth
