Well here it is folks. All the hype in the world and it comes down to the TIME iMac, which is supposed to fill the void that is left by deflated hype. The original iMac was truly revolutionary. This one is just a G4 in a different enclosure. Granted, this iMac isnt all THAT bad. Its kinda neat. But I saw some mock-ups done by people, posted on this site that looked cooler than this one. (note the image below)
This one looks cool, even though it isnt the real one. It was posted a couple weeks ago here on macrumors, and I think beats the socks off of the 'real' one.
Anyway, I hope there is somthing more...definately more coming at MacWorld. I know SJ is all hyped up about this iMac, but we see it as just what it is. A half-sphere with a monitor sticking out the top. It looks like a sculpture a 3rd grader makes in their elementary art class. How hard is it to design a half sphere, stick a toothpick in it, and slap a monitor on it? Geez, man. Where is the elegance and style of the PowerBook?
Im dissapointed. This playful, non-elegant style of the new iMac reminds me of the horrid old iBooks, that look like toilet seats rather than laptops. Where is the bad-ass style? Where is it? Man, Steve, you obviously live at Gap with your faded jeans and black mock-turtleneck--didnt you pick any style up while you were there? I mean, we were right on track to blow the socks off the design and elegance of personal computers, and you give us another bubble machine? Where is the iMac that highly-resembles the Apple Cinema Display Monitor??
But the more I look at it, the better it looks.
