I had been waiting to afford a new dedicated ereader because the current prices are around $400-500 plus tax and delivery. This past week I noticed two things:
- the refurb store had ipod Touches on for $209
- ereader.com released an app for the touch/iphone

My son has been using my Palm for ereading, and I was getting a little nervous with all my business apps, contacts etc on this expensive unit. With the relative cheapness of the touch, I ordered two and now we can both eread.

As an added benefit, the touch last for hours when using it as a reader. The palm was good for about an hour. The touch can be held comfortably in one hand and page turns are handled by thumb.

We have the added benefit of music, vids and other apps all for the price of one dedicated ereader. Couldn't be happier!

On a side note: My wife had purchased an Archos 605 for my birthday this past March. Nice little video player with an 800x480 screen, but the touch still blows it away:
- instant on vs a 3minute start up for the Archos
- web, email and video all standard on the touch, they are extras on the archos
- content is so much easier to manage on the touch
- 2 downsides were a smaller screen and lack of expandability. The Archos can take SDHC cards
