So I've had my first MacBook for just over a year now.
It's an Air, and can do the full range of multitouch functions.

And now I'm thinking about getting a Mac desktop to complement it, since it's not the fastest mac on the shelf...

But I don't want to abandon my precious multitouch abilities!!
I wish Apple would produce a trackpad, like the newest ones which can be clicked, for their desktop range.
Trackpads are simply a far more sophisticated input; like a touchscreen,
but without any display to be obscured by busy hands.

Wheennnn?? Hopefully soon, possibly someday, maybe never...
3rd party?

I would agree that it should be integrated into the keyboard itself, this would be a nice feature but I don't see Apple doing this... Sadly :(

and also sadly the only desktop I have that I could even use it on is an old emac!

Yeah this has been brought up a lot. I think they should just embedd it into the keyboard as opposed to stand alone.

I would buy it. I think I remember seeing a 'shopped on that had the trackpad on a full size apple keyboard where the arrow keys are. I think it would be a very nice aesthetic especially since the mighty mouse is the only white plastic thing except for the whitebook which is an exception.

If Apple replaced mice with a multi touch trackpad, people would complain about the lack of mice. Just like people did with FireWire and the matte=suck displays.
