I just wanted to say to the world that I am still loving my 13" M1 MBA (16/512). It so easy to use and transport. I also have an M2 MBP Pro that is a great machine. It sits on my side table in the living room. There is really something special about the MBA though. It is just so user friendly. Glad I have it. It is a fantastic little computer. Really one of the best.

I also own the M1 Air connected to a Studio Display while at home and, I agree, it is great. By the way, if I may ask just out of curiosity, for what reason do you have 2 laptops? Is there anything you prefer to do on the MBP instead of the Air? And as far as screen and portability are the differences noticeable?

I'm not the OP, but I also have two laptops. I bought my 14-inch M1 Max MBP when it came out in November 2021 and it's my main machine. I started traveling more in 2023 and (1) wants a smaller laptop for travel; and (2) didn't want to take something so expensive with me all the time. So I got a refurb M1 MBA (16/256) for when I travel and it's been perfect. I thought about selling my MBP and buying a base Mac Studio, but didn't feel I needed to since I basically already had the same spec in my MBP. So now I have two laptops.

So I imagine you need the power of the Pro or the Studio, right? Side by side, in real life, what are the pros and cons of the Air and Pro? Weight, screen, power etc.

I use the M1 for traveling and just to keep in the bedroom. I use the MBP for some photo work. Love the screen on the MBP. M1 is very light and portable in a way that the MBP is not.

I've had an M1 Air since it came out and have never regretted it.

I do wish I'd sprung for the 16g of RAM, though. I've run up against some error messages recently about using too much memory. It seems to be an Apple bug, since it didn't occur before Sonoma, but the 16g would be nice for peace of mind.

I've got the 8/512 version as a refurb and I'll second the emotion of the OP. Love this thing.

I use it for Office/Teams/Outlook/multiple browsers with multiple tabs. I've never had any time when I wished it was faster.

Fantastic piece of kit as our British friends would say.

*I had some memory issues early on with Sonoma - the dynamic screen saver had a memory leak. It was using 2GB of RAM. But that's fixed with the latest updates.
