I am loving the XR!! It’s an incredible upgrade over my previous 6s. I did the apple give back and got $200 knocked off so it cost me in total $550.

I have been watching reviews of the device for weeks prior. I noticed many have referred to the weight of the Xr in comparison to other phone. Some refer to this as a negative factor others manage to make it out as a plus.
In my personal opinion the weight of this device is quite noticeable in your hand. It’s a good feeling. It creates a presence of such. If you’re using the device naked as I am, you will truly appreciate the feeling of a weighty metal and glass object such as this in your hand. Aluminum is very soft, just as the glass, and apple made sure to tuck everything in. As the perfectionists they are, even in a budget device, your fingers and hand will not find any “scrapes” while sliding it around it in your hand as you’re adjusting to whatever task you’re performing on the phone. The best way I can put it, it’s a very soft, smooth, device. Your hands will thank you. I would recommend using a sleeve if rocking naked just to be extra safe.

Nothing about the XR in my opinion physically feels or appears “budget” or “cheap”. I chose the color Black, for the metal housing it’s a matte, smooth black. The bezels blends into the belt line where the glass meets the housing seamlessly making it appear as a huge slab of screen in your hand. It’s a really cool effect.

No longer having a physical button was originally a back draw for me in decision making and I was leaning towards the 8+, and for sometime the 8. As I was using a much smaller device I felt comfortable with being able to have the screen in complete reach when using 1 hand. I flipped a coin and the XR won. I do not regret this decision as I immediately appreciated the device once it finally touched my hands. In addition Face ID won me over instantly it’s very easy to get the hang of and gesture support catches on quick. Having one solid screen is such a great experience because it allows the keyboard and other onscreen interactions to be much lower on screen making tall screens such as the Xr easy to manage. Though even with big hands it’s still very impractical to use one handed. I plan to use swype to encourage faster writing.

Even though people have brought up the PPI issue I do not see an issue in this device. It has the same PPI as my 6S and quite honestly I do not see any reason to consider 326 PPI as an disappointment. The LCD used is of the same caliber as the last generations. Incredible color accuracy, text is smooth and clear, and colors are nice and bright. The black levels are to be expected with a device using a backlight. I knew coming into this what to expect with an LCD as I’ve been using iPhones since 2013 and have not been disappointed then and despite the surge in Oled screens on the android side I am not disappointed now. I have a beautiful, color accurate, and bright when it needs to be viewing experience.

The battery life is incredible. I have had it long enough to say that a full night charge will last me more than just one day. I don’t stress about battery life at all.

I am truly happy with my purchase! I am truly
Enjoying this phone. To those considering it you will not be disappointed.

It really is a great deal for 6s owners

And an ok deal for 7 owners imo despite the higher than desired msrp

It’s a great deal for anyone (except iPhone X owners) who doesn’t think the two-lens camera is a must have. It’s 95% the iPhone XS Max experience at 68% of the cost.

Well put!

My XR is great. Coming from an iPhone 7 I love the larger screen and got used to the additional weight almost immediately.

Battery is insane. Speed is incredible. New gestures work great.

IMO it will be a great device for years to come and by lowering its price overtime it will become a sales hit.

I’m really quite glued to mine as well

The new screen size and the consistent looking display have me hooked. And a battery life that would have android and even other iOS users not on Xr , smitten

I haven’t gotten burnt out by the blue color scheme on mine either. No regrets

Congrats on your new XR, I am so happy with mine (upgraded from 6s) and loving everything about it.

Hi all,

After using my XR for a few days naked even with babying the device it has already begun to produce wear and tear scratches. I am now in search of a case, preferably leather; sadly there is no Apple leather variants, what does everyone recommend for a leather case?

Ever since getting my Apple watch, I do not use my phone as much (physically) but I was curious 2 weeks ago and wanted to see how long the Xr would go for without charging. Got full 3 days out of it. I got 2 days out of the X that I had before (my son has it now).

I kinda regret getting the XS Max over the XR, but I got mine on a deal with T-Mobile so it’s not so bad. The XR just needs a better price point. That’s my lone complaint about the device.

What I really enjoy the most about the XR is the weight of the device. The presence it makes in your hand. My coworker has a XS and his serviced as a good way to physically interact with the device. My tactile response that the device felt physically cheap due to how the feel of the stainless steel sides and near weightlessness combine with one another. I guess I am amongst the minority in this aspect. Which shocks me because a selling point for me was knowing the 8Plus, which would’ve been my other choice, is thinner than the XR. I bet it’s going to feel great when I get a nice leather case for it

I just sold my Samsung Galaxy S9 and traded in my Iphone 8 and walked out with a White/Silver Iphone XR, 128gb.
I have had it for a week now and LOVE this phone. I usually like smaller phones but love the size and weight of the XR.
The battery is the best I have ever had in a smart phone. I really don't missed the super amoled screen on my s9. It was great but I like the LCD just fine and I actually think it doesn't strain my eyes as much.
Anyway, I love everything about the iphone XR. I know the XS is a great phone, but I am more than content with the XR and actually get off a little bit on the fact that you get a larger screen and better battery life for $250 less than the cost of the XS. :p

Man I totally agree. I’m watching swappa right now for the right deal on an xr.

Yes. Being an 8 plus user; I thought the xs max was would feel the same but I find the max uncomfortable. I feel like the xr is a more comfortable phone to handle.

Best iPhone I’ve owned. I have an iPhone XS Max sitting right here with me. Guess what phone I use daily?

I have a max, X and Xʀ and choose my Xʀ daily.
Just curious but why do you have so many iPhones. I thought I was nuts for wanting to keep the xr.

The S9 to the XR is a huge difference both good and bad.

With the S9, you lose out on a FP sensor, Samsung Pay, Samsung smart features, etc.

On the other hand, you get iOS support for years to come, more dev support, better customer service, more apps, dual SIM capabilities (assuming your S9 wasn’t dual SIM), no carrier or OEM duplicate software, FaceID, better battery life, and a more reliable device.

I love my XR. It just took me a day or two to get used to Face ID and swiping up. Great phone for the money I think. Great speed and I like the display.

I was a XS Max ‘Day one owner’, and after seeing the XR, I may have considered it, even though it does not have the telephoto lens and 3D Touch, which is the other two main reasons why I would opted for the XS. The other reason I didn’t purchase the XR, is I’m not a very patient person and I didn’t want to wait until October either.

Same here (I have to admit). I suspect Apple purposely staggered the Xs and Xr releases to get impatient early adopters to spring for the high-end models.

I’m nagged by the notion that I might have purchased a 128gb XR instead of my 256gb XS Max if both had been released at the same time. I’m not using the telephoto lens or Portrait Mode so much anymore (prefer my Sony mirrorless camera for that), and I really dig that Product RED XR. Not to mention that the extra $450 would have felt better in my pocket.

Well said, and imagine having 326 ppi back in 2007 let alone an 256 option for storage.
