low end 15 graphics, external display?

i currently have a 2009 17 mbp, i like to watch downloaded movies by connecting my mbp via mini display/usb to hdmi converter into my 46" full HD TV. Generally they are mkv blu-ray rips, maybe 4-5GB per movie.

Will the lower end 15" be able to handle this with only 256mb of video memory?
