I just purchased a Late 2009 MacBook Pro 15" 2.53 GHz about 20 days ago... Now Apple just released the new ones with a 2.4 GHz being the low end now...

I called Apple to see if I could return my latest purchase for the new one... They let me return it without paying restocking fees! I'm pumped to receive my brand new MacBook Pro 15" 2.4 GHz, but being that it is a slower processor, will it really be that much faster?

It's not a slower processor, just runs at a slower clockspeed. It's the megahertz myth.

As said above, it's the megahertz myth. If you go and see some preliminary benchmarks (on MacRoumors' main page, for instance) you will quickly see the new i5 and the better GPU and longer battery and bigger HD of your new MBP quickly trump the old C2D one.

To add to his question: there's probably not a significant difference but is there a reason why someone should get the 2.53 over the 2.4?

If I were to buy again I would go for the 2010 MBP, the better graphics is the only reason. I like my changeable battery though.

I too wanna upgrade but not sure if the extra $240 is worth it for the new low end 15". Right now i have a late08 2.4 4gb ram 9600GT with a 250gb HD 7200.
I can get $1,500 for it right now but will all this hassle be worth it?
