Thought about posting this in the high-end audio thread, but that's far and away a different crowd. I have the current audio setup:
Just a Philips mini stereo system hooked up to my Macbook Pro. Problem is, this semester after buying a USB hub I get static through the AUX cable that goes from the laptop to my reciever:
No matter where I move the cord, I still get static. I've tried unplugging everything else to get rid of the static, but to no avail. I think something's ruined in the reciever (which also has trouble with my iPod), so I'm in the market for new speakers. I'd prefer not to spend all that much on it, maybe $50 at the most...any reason to splurge on a new desktop set rather than just get a cheap pair of 2.1's? My uses are basically music, games, and regular computing. I've loved this system up until now but the static problem is just infuriating.
