I've seen a lot of people on these forums recommend the low end, why?

I have a mid-2007 macbook and it is still in excellent shape. The only thing I have ever done is add 1 gb of RAM. I like to keep my notebooks for a long time, I am buying a new one for college. Ideally I would like it to last all 4 years. I will be studying computer science, I also do some developing. After education pricing, my high end mac comes out to 1400 and the lower is 1200, so isn't the .4ghz worth it? Please help!

You end up getting .4ghz, twice the ram, and 1/3 + hard drive capacity. Like the guy above said, get the high end model since you plan on keeping it a while.
