Charged my AW7 to 100% at around 10 pm yesterday. In the morning at 5 am (at 91%) I switched to low power mode. Now 8h later I'm still at 76%. Sure no workout just regular use with a few notifications etc.

Only thing I noticed that my exercise ring (green) doesnt move. No problem at all bc I go to the gym after work but just that you know.

With regular use, I think you can go 2 days easy. Especially if you charge it for maybe just 5-10 min.

I've been using it on my S5 for a few days. I have completed running and swimming workouts and it appears to track them normally. Battery life is significantly improved, apart from losing AOD, I'm not sure what the downside is?

Well, loss of AOD is pretty significant in itself, isn't it? You go from from wearing an actual watch to wearing a useless black rectangle on your wrist ... 🤔

If you have no need to see the time on your watch, what's the point of wearing a watch?
I have need but, I don't have a need to look at the time every minute of the day. If I have a long sleeve shirt on, why should I keep the display on when I can't see it every miunute? It makes more sense for me to invoke the screen for the times I need it. When I am exercising, I keep the display on. When I am asleep, it makes no sense to keep the display on.

I know you weren't replying to me, but this comment makes no sense. Not needing to see the time on your watch 24/7 doens't mean that you don't need to see the time on your watch at all.

It's not like turning off the Always On Display turns off the screen completely. It only takes a small turn of the wrist to activate the display any time that I want to see the time or anything else that comes up. But you knew that.

Some people can't do that without crazy awkward jerking movements.

Update:
Like I said I charged it to 100% yesterday around 10 pm. Slept with it, but low power mode on at 5 am and now it’s 7 pm. Just completed a 2:30h cycling workout and it’s still at 53%.

With a 10 min charge I can go 2 days without a problem!

By default, starting a workout will take the watch out of Low Power Mode.

You can override this in Settings, Workout by enabling Low Power Mode there.

No it’s still in low power mode. AOD is still off f.e.

“Launching a workout by default will turn off low power mode, but you can also toggle on ‘Low Power Mode’ in the Workout menu in Settings. When this is enabled, it limits heart rate and GPS demands during workouts where you don’t require as precise data. Walking is a good example of a workout you’d want to use with low power mode, while race training is not.“

Fair enough. My snarky comment was mostly powered by whisky, and in retrospect it does seem kind of dumb. Lol

That said, I was often irritated that my Apple Watch Series 0-4 didn't have AOD. There were so many times that I wanted to be able to glance at my watch to see the time but couldn't because the screen was off. Situations where I couldn't easily flip my wrist to activate the display. While cycling, during meetings, at church, while riding the train and holding on to a hand strap, etc. So for me, losing AOD is simply not worth it, no matter how great the battery gains are.

Just for the experiment - should try to have a 100% a morning, low power mode and not charge at all and last two days.

I need to go for a hike with buddies in October and sleep in the nature - Would love it to last for the two days, but fear for the battery when hiking 10-15K a day with GPS etc.

Normal LPM was still on because of the yellow ring and delayed notifications. Display was off too but Heart Rate worked normal. I dont need the extra low power for workouts.

I go hiking often but wheater is bad for the next days so I cant try it out. Some hikes are well over 8h and my S6 wouldnt make it without re charging

The watch didn't last on the charge? Did you bring your phone?

yes. But I had to drive to the destination 1h then hiking 8h, break 1h and I had like 20% or less. I hope its better with LPM

Yeah a lot of hours with heart rate sensor full speed - the hike will be a good test with the low power
