Anyone experiencing low volume for the ringer and earpiece? Sometimes I'm missing text messages simply cause I don't hear the phone. And last night in a bar I could barely hear someone on the other end even with the volume on the ear piece all the way up.

Overall I'm very happy with this phone, I just wish it was louder.

Volume is low on all Iphones

I thought I had a defect but my wifes Iphone is the same as is the Apple store display models (all 6 of them)

Looks like this is just how it is, BUT I am confident Apple will address this in a software update rumored to be ready this week!! Lets hop becuase this phone is sweet except the for the volume.

Yep, same complaint here. The volume is extremely low compared to other phones. Do anyone believe that they can address the volume level via software?

Restore will fix the volume

Connect your phone to your computer. Under the Summery tab in iTunes select 'Restore'. This will download the firmware from Apple and re-install it. This fixed all volume issues for me.

Also remember the phone remembers the volume settings for each use individually (if you like the speaker phone load and the headset low it adjusts the volume to the last setting you used.)

(make sure to Sync before you Restore)

My iPhone sound is great. I even have to turn mine down at times bbecause it is too loud.

So you're telling me you could hardy hear anything and did a restore and now it is way louder? Maybe I should give it a try.

The first couple of days I had my iphone I experienced a very low volume in the earpiece. Took it up to the apple store and we tested it with other iphones.
Funny thing I left the store and called a contact, the earpiece was loud.
Strange it has been great every since then.

Yep thats what happened - on two different phones (my partners had the same issue)

Just did the whole restore deal and unfortunately it didn't change anything. Dang. I've heard enough complaints about this. hopefully they'll do something about it in future updates.

Are you guys aware that the earpiece can be turned up and down dynamically by the volume switch on the side of the iPhone?

A friend of mine thought his had a volume issue till I showed him it's adjustable.

You can turn it down so low it can't be heard.. and it can be turned up so loud the speaker will actually crackle from the high volume.

The call volume on my phone is very low as well. I have until tomorrow to return it. Has anyone here had any trouble returning their iphone? Also, did you notice an improvement in the new iphone? I also wonder if this is a software or hardare issue. If it's a hardware issue, I will return mine tomorrow and exchange it. But, if it's a software issue I will wait for the update to see if that will fix it. Anyone have any suggestions? Should I return it or wait for an update?

I actually did this and my call volume is still sub par.

the restore snore

Okay, thanks for giving us the heads up on the restore snore.
Will await and pray Apple fixes the volume problems with an update.

I really can't believe they were so aggressive on battery life, they deflated the volume to this degree. I'm hoping it's not due to some feedback issue cause we are then all in trouble. And it's bluetooth earpiece at all times then. :(

I have noticed that the better the signal strength actually correlates to better call volume. My call volume is the lowest when I'm on the phone with someone who has a cellphone with poor reception. My call volume is better when I call land lines. Has anyone else had similar results?
