When purchasing the new iPhone, is anyone considering the depreciation costs and the trade-in value in three to four years’ time? For example, would you lose more money if you bought the base iPhone 17 than if you bought the iPhone 17 Pro Max when trading it in for your next phone? I am simply curious, as I prefer the larger screen on the iPhone 17 Pro Max, although I realize that the base iPhone 17 offers great value. If I receive a better trade-in value on the iPhone 17 Pro Max, then I will choose that model. Has anyone here calculated the numbers?

ie would you lose more money if you bought the base 17 than if you bought the 17PM when trading it in first your next phone? Just curious as I like the bigger screen on the 17 Pm best realise the base 17 is great value. If I get better trade in on 17PM then I’ll go with it. Anyone here crunched the numbers?
It hugely depends on what they are to do the next year. I think regular 16 was terrible value in hindsight, but 17 is likely gonna do much much better. To be honest it seems the best option for market value this year. They are likely to improve and address all the flaws next year for both 17Pro and Air - who knows we may still get some x-gate with one of those...
