Hi all,

I am planning to buy a gift for my brother in the UAE of an LTE iPad mini.
Does anybody have experience of buying a cellular device that was used in the middle east? I am not sure which version to get in order to get the LTE speeds in the UAE.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks.

No particular experience with UAE networks, but Asia in general for iPhone 5. According to specs, the Canadian iPad mini model A1454 will not work on LTE on UAE networks but will do on HSPA. The Europe/Asia/Verizon USA model A1455 should work on LTE. See these:

Hope that helps!

Edit: read somewhere that carrier updates are also required for LTE in addition to frequency band compatibility.

Great, thanks a lot for the help.
Will order a Europe version or pick a Verizon one up in LA if they are in store this week as I will be traveling to the US.
