From all of the hoopla over simultaneous voice and data between AT&T and Verizon on LTE, it dawned on me that I may have a problem with the new iPhone 5.

I have very poor 3G service in my home location but am able to get a decent LTE signal with AT&T. Voice calls to my iPhone 4 often go to voicemail. I got a microcell which helps some. I was hoping that by switching to the iPhone 5 on the LTE network, this problem would be eliminated.

It now seems clear that I am mistaken, since LTE does not support voice. Is it correct to state that as far as voice signal is concerned, there is no difference between iPhone 4, 4s, and 5?

It is correct to say that LTE is for data only on the iPhone 5.

But maybe with an improved antenna system the iPhone 5 can hold a better 3G connection than the 4S or 4 in a weak area like you experience.

thanks for the quick reply. I guess I will find out next week if 3G signal reception is any better on the iPhone 5!
