Now since it can do talk and surf at the same time I thought lte would stay on but apparently it turns back to fake 4g is this a defect or dose everyone else notice this as well thanks in advance.

AT&T doesn't support VOLTE (voice over LTE).

It defaults to 4G/3G for data when on voice calls.

This is normal. The iPhone cannot do both voice and data at the same time and hold a LTE connection.

Thank you for the responses

Disappointing, I know.

You figure, that if the phone can't do voice over LTE, then it would do voice over 4G/3G, and keep data over LTE

I'm sure they will resolve these annoyance with next year's iPhone, and when VOLTE rolls out.

And keep in mind that when your on the phone our data is throttled. Run a speed test if you don't believe me.

Not all carriers do that. AT&T is does it the most often, however it only happens to me when I'm in a densely populated area.

It totally is I made up my mind and I'm returning it for verizon I still get dropped calls and barely seeing any lte speeds.

Well note that you will still not get VOLTE on Verizon, yet. But your call quality should be better.

yeah, i know but the good thing is theres always wifi for that i rather have better call quality and reception compared to dropped calls and no 1 bar.
