I purchased a apple time capsule (1 tb ) on black friday. The reviews are lukewam at best. I have read that I should not set it up allowing it to sync with my mac book ever day to extend its life i have also heard. that the new models are better and last longer than the old ones. Any tips or ideas on how to extend the life of the time capsule or should i just return it?

If your new Time Capsule isn't from that time period, I wouldn't worry about it prematurely dieing.

I think you'll find that 99% of people setup the Time Capsule, and have their Macs backup to it multiple times a day, and don't experience any problems -- without having to do anything additional to "extend its life".

Most wireless products have lukewarm reviews. There are plenty of 5-star reviews on store.apple.com to go along with the 1-star reviews.
