I just picked up an M1 11-inch iPad Pro yesterday. The volume for notifications like new mail and messages is very low, and I can't seem to find any way of increasing it. The volume buttons for the system volume work as expected, and audio volume for apps like YouTube and Spotify is fine. The volume slider in the sounds settings for ringer and alerts works as intended. It's just the notification volume that's a problem.

I'm not using headphones, and the notification sounds are just the stock ones. All settings are just like my iPhone, which doesn't have this problem.

I've installed iPadOS 14.7.1 and rebooted but that hasn't helped. Any ideas?

Did you ever find an answer for this? It may be that the volume level when you’re looking at the device, and the volume level when the device is not being used, are different.

Try this: the device alone, and in standby, and monitor the volume when you get a notification. Then, compare that to the same notification sound volume when you’re using (read: looking at) the device.
