I am very curious to see how many people use an M1 iPad pro in a technical capacity. I am a Telcom/IT Technical Support Manager and i need to be always available to access our customer systems. I use to lug my Intel MacBook Pro everywhere I went but I also carried my iPad for fun things. For the past three months I have been carrying just my M1 12.9 iPad pro in a Waterfield Outback solo everywhere I go (Mall, shopping, In-laws, etc) and it has proven to do all I need it to do. Between Citrix, VMware Horizons, Zoom, cisco anyconnect, etc. I can even SFTP to my remote server for required downloads. When light productivity is needed I cans use MS Office apps. It has not replaced my laptop but I can do all my support work and light office work on my iPad. The only thing I cannot do is VPN into my office and its not the iPads fault. We still use PPTP and the iPad not longer supports that. I’d love to hear from other Technical Professionals how they use an ipad.

The iPad Pros are great for technical stuff, like RDPing into servers. We use a Cisco VPN, and it works great with the iPad. (I am a systems admin for a 50,000 student public university). Our biggest thing is administering our vmWare ESX servers that run hundreds of servers, including a 10,000 seat virtual workstation backend for students. As long as you can get to your systems, I have found numerous uses for iPads in technical admin.
