Hello,

I'm having some issues with my new work setup when I try to use it in WFH configuration with my Dell S2721DGFA screen.

I've been provided at work with the following :

A M1 13" MBP from 2021
A 2 ports usb-c hub from Novoo, including an hdmi output
A Dell screen (model unknown) connecting successfully in HDMI to the MBP

All these work together nicely.

However, when I bring back the MBP and the HDMI/USB hub at home and try to connect them to my Dell S2721DGFA HDMI2 input (165Hz, 27 inch, 2560x1440 monitor)

then it doesn't work at all. The screen stays black, flashing at times that it's scanning the HDMI2 input, but nothing appears.

When I plug the screen, it says "scanning for signal" then "No HDMI2 signal", then it goes black. It does this in cycles.

I'm at a loss here because I know that everything "works" seperately.

I'd be ok to buy a new adapter for the HDMI output if I knew it would solve the issue for sure, however I'd like not to have to change my screen as I just bought it 6 months ago and I'm very happy with it.

Can you recommend a troubleshooting procedure to understand what's going wrong and how it could be fixed ?

Thanks in advance for your help with this !

edit : weirdly fixed by going through an HDMI matrix before going into the screen

Hi!

I just got the same monitor and encountered the same problem when trying to connect it to my m1 macbook air.
After some trial and error I managed to solve the issue like this:

1) go to System Preferences - Monitors
2) here at the bottom there's a button "Gather Windows" which when pressed brings the settings window for the Dell monitor to the macbook screen
3) In the Dell monitor's settings window I noticed that the monitor defaulted to 72hz refresh rate. After I changed it to 60hz the monitor finally started showing the picture.
