M1 Air and LG 5K display - wrong resolution?

I have an LG 27" 5K display connected to my M1 Air via the included USB-C cable. Per Apple's support document, this pairing should give me 5K resolution; however, "About This Mac" reports it as a 4K display. Additionally, in display settings, I have to scale it to the proper 5K resolution; "default" is clearly 4K.

What can I do to fix this?
