I recently got an M1 Macbook Air and use it with an external monitor 90% of the time. Whether I"m using the LG ultrafine 5k or another standard LG montior, the M1 macbook air is competely unusable when i
1. plug the computer in and wake it up with the display
2. if the display goes to sleep (while the computer is still on!) i wake the display up by moving my mouse/pressing a key on the keyboard
in both situations the computer just grinds to a halt, with slightly blurry visuals and very very VERY slow response from any application. it takes a good 3-5 minutes for it to go back to normal
Has anyone experienced this or know a fix to this problem? I've had macbooks since 2008 and I've never experienced this issue with external displays until I got this computer. It's reached a point where the computer has become unusable just if i let the display go to sleep which is unacceptable.
