I have an M1 MacBook Air and I would like to purchase a hub/docking station that will allow me to use two external 4k displays @60hz.

I have read the Dell D6000 has problems waking up monitors.

Can someone recommend something that works good?

You'll need to find a DisplayLink hub for the M1 to support more than 1 external display. You can't use the native display connection for a second display.

I haven't had any issues with the Dell D6000 (I'm using one right now), but it may depend on the monitors. This is with 2 Dell U2722D's at 2560x1440 60Hz.

Plugable makes DisplayLink adapters that support 2x4k@60 hz. I have one of these but wound up getting a Studio. They do work fairly well for office stuff but you will see transition glitches and somewhat less smooth results in some video transitions. Best example is moving spaces. They are nice in that they also transmit audio.

4k@60hz requires a minimum 18Gbps bandwidth. With a single thunderbolt port, the max down link is only 20Gbps. Even with TB4 allows 3 lanes for down link, you have 30Gbps. This is not enough to support two 4k@60hz monitors.

2 monitors 4k@30hz is possible.

Today I received a Dell D6000 and have been trying it out.

I have a 38" ultra wide monitor 3840x1600 and with my eyes I find that resolution difficult to work with, so when plugged into my MacBook I have it scaled to 3008x1253. When connected using the D6000 only 3840x1600 or 2560x1080 are available. In DisplayLink Manager 1.8.0 I have ticked 'Enable experimental 3008x 2560x modes' and on one occasion using HDMI I managed to get it to use 3008x1253. But since then no luck using HDMI or DP to get 3008x1253 working again.

I have the latest DisplayLink Manager installed and I updated the D6000 to the latest firmware.

Just wondering if anyone else has got the 3008x mode working?

I don't use DisplayLink anymore but found that the Beta drivers gave me a bunch more resolutions compared to the regular drivers.
