Hi,

I’m trying to decide if I should buy the iMac or keep the M1 Mac mini. I’m currently using my tv as the monitor for Mac mini but I’m hoping to find an external monitor that is somewhat comparable to the iMac screen. Any recommendations? preferably not as expensive as the Studio Display. Thank you

I switched from a 2018 Intel Mac mini to the iMac and love it. Using a TV for a monitor might be OK if you’re just watching YouTube videos from a distance but I would go blind trying to do that. I had a Samsung 32” 1080P monitor for my mini and it was absolutely terrible compared to the iMac screen. This was the first time I thought about the quality of a monitor but it does make a significant difference on the experience. The only downside with the iMac is it’s a bit small compared to a 27“ monitor

I think if you get a decent 4K monitor it would be pretty close to the quality of the iMac and so much better than a TV. Since you already have the Mac mini it would be a waste to buy an iMac.

Sorry I don’t have specific recommendations other than just a quality 4K monitor. I would go on Amazon and check reviews

I like the Lenovo 4K monitors pretty well. They seem to work better with Macs than Dell monitors. I have the P27u-10 and I recently got the P27u-20 and it works with the M1 Mac mini. The new one is Thunderbolt and it has a dock and speakers built-in. It's $699 right now, but sometimes it drops below $600 and you can get a little extra off with a student or military discount. They also have a couple 32" monitors and some less expensive 28" and 27" monitors. It looks like the T27p-10 is basically the same as the older P27u-10. It looks identical. It doesn't have Thunderbolt, but it has USB-C.
