What is your opinion on the low contrast ratio of the M1 MacBook Air screen? It's only around 1000:1. Is there a big difference in everyday use, compared to the MacBook Pro? Is the contrast perhaps the cause of the eye fatigue that some report with the MBA?

I like to know too. I was unhappy, but turning off true tone fixed that. Now I think it's very good.

Must say I am not a true tone fan. Didn't like it on iphone either.

According to several sites that measured the M1 MacBook Air vs MacBook Pro contrast ratio, the MBA is about 1100:1 and the MBP is about 1700:1.

Ok, I have only seen it on notebookcheck, can you give some more source for confirmation.

Just google M1 MacBook Air contrast ratio and then M1 MacBook Pro contrast ratio. That's all I did. I found several sources that were mostly in agreement. One said the MBA had only a 960:1 contrast ratio but I didn't see that collaborated anywhere else. Sorry, I didn't save the URLs and I don't feel like doing the exercise again.

Edit: Well I didn't use Google, I used Duck Duck Go.

Seems like nobody cares about the contrast. All YouTube videos only talk about brightness and resolution in comparisons.

Probably just laziness since Apple doesn’t seem to publish the contrast ratio for the M1 MacBooks.
