CARSHING. Hello. I purchased the M1 MacBook Pro 13" 2 tb. It crashed 3 times on a row after initial set up (without doing time capsule or downloading apps). The computer suddenly flashed a pink screen and crashed. Sometimes it would reboot give you a "this computer shut down because of a problem" notice and crashed again after a few seconds, or it would reboot to a black screen where the pointer is present but inoperable. I called apple support but none of the things they told me to do cleared the problem. I thought it was my luck on getting a defective unit. I decided to go to the store and return the computer. I walked out with a 1tb M1 13" replacement- since they don't have 2tb on store. I did the initial set up as before and it started crashing exactly the same way as the other one. One thing that I noticed is that in both cases I had plugged in the CalDigit adapter (apple approved brand) to connect to wired internet. After It crashed and went black with the frozen pointer I disconnected the cal digit adapter and it immediately went to log in. Might there be a incompatibility issue with these adapter and the M1 systems that is making them crash? With this observation I still decided to return everything all-together (laptop and adapters). I need thees off apple brand adapters to compensate the the models lack of inputs for harddrves, internet, hdmi to do the type of work I do. I guess ill just have to wait little bit more and continue using my dinosauric 2012 MacBook Pro until apple figures out all these kinks.
