I bought a 'used' ( put that very lightly , 11 month warranty 10 battery cycles ) MacBook Pro for less than half RRP due to Touch Bar not working and webcam not working. The Touch Bar I've sorted with the terminal command as that was flickering display however you could still touch it to make things work if you knew location.

The camera well lack of is the only issue as it says not is attached , I've googled and searched on here however all the fixes are intel based. I believe that this is more software or firmware related than say physically damaged and going on how easy it was to fix the Touch Bar issues.

I could just dump it down apple shop and let them deal with it however if it's a 2min fix with a bit of code in terminal or key presses on boot then I'd rather do that save on traveling.

Some people on here refer to the SMC fix that has fixed the issue however I can't find what that is for the M1 only the intel based Macs.

anyways I hope folk can help

Well after a conversation and online diagnostics with apple it seems the webcam is properly broken on a 1 month old machine. Sooooo it's going back to apple on Monday for a replacement. The diagnostics show the ambient light sensor has become faulty which has effected the camera , the USB-C port next to the screen will also not function as a charge or data port with any USB-C charger but will only work as power passthrough. I can charge my iPhone but not access the phones data.

Anyways it's going back for a replacement.
