Hey. So far I'm extremely impressed and satisfied with the 16" MBP. I'm using it for game development with Unity next to my standalone PC. I was considering getting rid of the PC altogether given how well this setup works for me so far, but I've run into one small issue:
I connected my widescreen monitor (Dell AW3821) to my MBP using a high quality Thunderbolt 3 to Display Port 1.4 cable (runs 4K at 120hz). I set the external screen into adaptive framerate, where it clearly runs at it's 120-144hz. However, when I work with the rendering window of the unity editor, it runs completely fluid when I have the app on my MBP screen, while it has clearly stutters on the external monitor. The resolution of the MBP is higher (7.7M vs 6.2M pixels), so I don't think that's the matter. Setting the external monitor to fixed refresh rate at 120hz also doesn't help. Also, my prototype runs with consistent 180 fps at the MBP screen (impressively pretty much on the same level as my 5950X with a 3080Ti), while it goes down to 115 fps once I put the Unity app onto the external screen.
That behaviour is just highly puzzling to me. Using another 2 different HDMI cables didn't change anything about this behaviour. The MBP is plugged in over MagSafe. The MBP runs out of the box with basically only a Monterey update to 12.0.1 . Any ideas why this might happen?
