I purchased a new great deal on an M1 Max taking advantage in the price drop. I have an M2 purchased last year.

Just wondering if any one has/had any issues with the M1 studio that they wished they had purchased additional Apple 3 year warranty?

Honestly, I always purchase Applecare with any machine I purchase from Apple, just because everything is soldered into place and not user serviceable, meaning if something does go wrong you're looking at a very expensive fix!

A previous MBP16" I used to have had a port that kept randomly disconnecting anything connected to it a few years back. Took it in and they ended up replacing the entire mainboard - and this was literally a month before the 3 year Applecare was due to end!

Otherwise I've rarely used Applecare for a computer/laptop, but I know the one time I don't get it something is bound to happen!!! lol

Same with my iPhone. Always get it, never used it - until last year when my phone was snatched from my hand and stolen. Thankfully covered by Applecare and replaced within 2 days.

I'm waiting for the M4 Max Studio, and I will certainly get the Applecare coverage with it......for me its more piece of mind than anything else......

If I'm spending $4-$6K on a loaded-up Mac, I'm not really sweating another ~$200 on a warranty... I just get it.

I've rarely had to use my AppleCare warranty... but one time I did, they had to replace the motherboard on a MacPro 3 times, the HD 2 times, the HD Controller 2 times, and a slew of sensors. The total bill would have been 3 times what I paid for that already expensive rig. So the way I see it, that AppleCare fee back then has paid for every Apple warranty since (this is going back to the original MacPro)

Apple warranties are alot different then other third party ones you're used to. ive always had AppleCare or AppleCare+ for the last 25 years or so. there were times they had to replace a machine after a few repairs, or 3 years in, last day had to swap out a part and its covered. my recommendation now is to get it, but while Apple offers monthly or yearly plans, do the pay in full and then after it runs out at the 2 or 3 year mark switch to monthly...mainly because starting off monthly its slightly more costly over that general 2 or 3 year period then paying up front. and the monthly/yearly AC+ covers the devices as long as its supported by Apple (not obsolete, etc).
