Just got my M1 MBA 8core/8GPU with 16GB Ram and 512 storage. Here are some benchmarks for everyone interested.

Setup has been painless and machine is very responsive.

Thanks for sharing. To put it simply, the larger the number, the better?
Not one to really check or read benchmark scores. I used to think that manufactures produced that data, to help boost sales.

I know, I know...

Handbrake benchmark? Premiere Pro? After Effects? Photoshop?

I think we've all seen the Geekbench and Cinebennch scores enough times by now.

That’s crazy! I think it’s almost time to upgrade from my 2010 13” mbp! I will try and hold off one more year and see what the m2 will be like!

Have you done any video editing on this setup? I’m debating between air and pro, have each ordered. I prefer the air I think for cost savings and slimmer profile but that’s the exact setup I ordered and I’m curious about video editing. I should say it won’t be anything hardcore pro level, just a hobbyist and occasional YouTube video. I wonder how the throttling on the air will be

I can certainly do this and report back. I do not have access to Adobe anymore so cannot do After Effects or Premiere but I can download hitfilm express and do some editing etc. Even do iMovie if that would help.

I use Affinity products and those are running great on this machine so far.

I don't have access to adobe anymore sorry. I do use affinity products and they are working just fine, not sure how I would "benchmark" those. I can however do a handbrake and report back.

That would be awesome! I hate premiere so no worries there, I’d be more interested in the iMovie/davinci resolves of the world.

Great to hear about affinity!

Created a 2min 4K 30fps video from my iPhone, used the .MOV file in handbrake using the fast 1080p preset:
2:30 on the MBA using the beta version for Apple Silicon
1:20 on my Windows 10 desktop which has 10cores (I9-10900K)

Used the same 2m 4K 30fps m MOV in iMovie and did a few edits, stabilized it, threw on some effects and exported it. Working with the file was fine, no spinning balls or slow downs. Export to 1080p with high quality took 2min

Awesome thank you, that’s what I’m as curious about was the actual editing experience. If it was going to throttle and choke at some point I’d probably eat it and opt for the pro but everything I’m reading seems like the air is really impressive so far at basically everything, punching well above its weight.

My M1 MBP 16GB/1TB that just came in today scored a 1746 single and 7666 multi core on Geekbench 5. Did I happen to just get a speedy batch of silicon?

FWIW, mine scored 1748 single core and 7578 multi. (16 GB/1 TB)

1002 points on Cinebench R15; 89 FPS.
