So far I haven't seen anything like this on my Space Gray M1 Pro and I'm wondering if that's due to the thinner port in addition to some other Apple sorcery this time around.
The M1 Pros are still relatively new. The MBP that is pictured probably got that way after a few years. Regardless, if you keep it clean and are careful your port probably won't look that bad--but neither will it look mint after a few years.
