M1 Mini Doesn’t Airplay to TV

When I try to airplay a movie from my M1 Mini to my TV it just shows a screen telling me how to airplay to the TV (from the TV’s own airplay software - it’s a Samsung QN90AA). I can airplay from my ipad and phone fine. The mini is connected to the TV with a HDMI cable, but I wanted to see if the Airplay mechanism would buffer video more effectively and result in smoother play.
