I use my 2018 Mac mini for 6 hours or more each day, the majority of it in Google Meets. I have the 3 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i5, 16GB of memory, and 512GB SSD so it's no slouch. I use dual 1080p displays with the meet open full screen on the second display in Chrome. I often find the fan in my Mini ramping up to over 4000 rpm and approaching 5000, it sounds like a jet engine. This has become especially prevalent since Google introduced the feature where you can change your background, that really seems to tax my mini.

With Google releasing a native M1 version of Chrome yesterday it got me thinking about upgrading to a new mini. I've watched tons of videos and everyone is astonished by the performance. And these are mostly Youtube creators that do intensive video editing, I would think my usage isn't nearly as intense.

Is anyone using the new mini in a similar capacity like I would? Would I be able run my Google Meets on my second display without the mini sounding like it is ready for takeoff?

Thank you!
