Is anyone else having a problem with their new MacBook Pro, in my case it's a M1 Pro 16" model, where the cursor jitters around the screen?

If I make a smooth motion left to right or up to down, it "snags" in random spots. This happened to me a few weeks ago, I did a Safe Boot and the issue went away for a good week or two.

Last night it started again.

I am on Monterey 12.1 Beta.

When I used my (plugged-in) Logitech mouse, I have no issues. It's just the trackpad.

That’s the way I am leaning. Unfortunately I’m out of the return window. I’m assuming my warranty will get me a replacement?

if you recieved your Mac in Nov, return window is until Jan 8th. You are well within your return.

Items purchased at the Apple Online Store that are received between November 1, 2021 and December 25, 2021, may be returned through January 8, 2022. Please note that all other terms and conditions provided in the Apple Online Store Sales and Refunds Policy are still applicable with respect to such items purchased. All purchases made after December 25, 2021 are subject to the Standard Return Policy.

That the safe boot made it go away suggests a potential software issue, could even be a memory leak if it's bad enough. Doesn't yet seem to be a hardware issue.

Incredible but a repair...all for the money. Can't wait for ARM computers from other vendors.
Ha, you must mean the makers that don't have issues with their equipment. Right.

Monterey betas are full of trackpad issues. tap-to-click not working, cursor jumping around, 4-finger swipe between screens often not working etc.

As you're on the beta, if you'd logged the issue in feedback it'd probably be flagged as "More than 10 people" already*. Watch the beta thread, wait for the next beta, and see if it goes away. If others say the problem is fixed and yours isn't, then that's the best way to know you have an individual (probably h/w) issue rather than a s/w one.

*Or it might not. Apple have reverted back to ignoring most bug reports again, like they did during Catalina/iOS 13.

Good God, thank you - I didn't even see the option to return until your post made me really look for it.

Went to the Apple Store to exchange and they fought, tooth and nail, to get me to instead repair rather than replace. I told them flatly that I would simply return it, walk out the door, walk back in the door and buy another rather than deal with this fiasco. The Apple employee begrudgingly did the exchange.

Have a new 16" laptop, only difference is the color. No trackpad issues, zero.
