When I was on a recent FaceTime call, a small white circular dot appeared in the upper right corner of the inbuilt display. When the call finished, the dot reappeared. Has any else seen something similar and is it part of the design?
 
I don't use FaceTime, but I've seen that dot in photos of calls, so it appears to be normal. I think it's to take a photo of the other person.
 
Do you mean white dot or orange dot? It is a feature of macOS Monterey, showing that the microphone is used by an app. Meanwhile, the green LED indicator shows that the webcam is in use.
