M1 vs Intel Air 512 Storage Size

I have a M1/512 and a i5/512, the M1 reports drive size is 494 and the i5 reports 500. Why does the M1 have a bigger recovery? I want my 6GB back lol.

It’s all there in your screenshot... Recovery and other system partitions take more space.
