Hi,
I've been wondering what workflows actually fully utilise the new chips, and how to check if they do. Power consumption in Watt is probably a fairly reliable number, as usage percentages in the activity monitor are not really linear.
Power consumption can be checked for example with command line tools such as the build-in powermetrics, or a third-party tool such as this: https://github.com/tlkh/asitop.
On my M1 Pro (10/16) I've measured peak (usually just one reading over less than a second) and sustained (for several minutes) power.
CPU: ~40W peak, ~34-35W sustained
GPU: ~30W peak, ~26-27W sustained
Anyone else did benchmarks on maximum wattage of these chips?
